YS Jagan Assures Fair Compensation To Polavaram Victims
West Godavari: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy assured the victims of Polavaram project that they would be rehabilitated in an appropriate manner. Those who would be displaced by the huge irrigation project met YS Jagan during his visit to Polavaram project site.
Speaking to press persons after YS Jagan's visit to Polavaram on Thursday, Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav said all 28,000 families who would be at the receiving end of the project would be compensated in a fair manner. More than 300 colonies comprising tribals would be displaced, he added.
Instead of flip flops on the date of completion, he said the Chief Minister had asked officials to come up with a realistic deadline. To which the officials promised to finish the project by June 2021, he added.
He said the State government with the feedback from the officials would work out a timeline and costs so as to prevent corruption and increase efficiency of the workers. Due to the rainy season ahead, he said the officials would stall the major works between July and October in wake of flooding and would likely to concentrate on other works.
