State Police Huddle Over Terror Alert

Andhra Pradesh DGP RP Thakur - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: In wake of alerts from the Central intelligence agencies about possible terror strikes, Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police RP Thakur convened an emergency meeting with district SPs, commissioners and other senior-level police officials here on Wednesday.

In a video-conference, he instructed police officials to be more alert and to beef up security at all important locations in their respective districts and towns to trace any possible movements of terrorists. He specifically told them to install CCTV cameras at key locations and crowded places.

Due to the recent attacks in Sri Lanka, the DGP is believed to have told the police officials to increase the patrolling, particularly in the coastal areas to ward off any threat from terrorists. He also asked them to increase the surveillance on hotels and to carry out regular checks of vehicles in their districts. The DGP said he would hold another follow-up meeting in a month’s time to take stock of security situation in the State.
