Red-faced TDP To Maintain Silence Against Allegations On Kodela Sivaprasad
Amaravati: In wake of several allegations surfacing against former speaker Kodela Sivaprasad, his son, and daughter, the top leadership of the TDP has decided to maintain stoic silence. After a huddle with senior leaders, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is believed to have reasoned that shielding Sivaprasad would bring disrepute to party, and hence told them not to issue statements on the same.
Sivaprasad and his family are accused of using their position of power to extort money from several people during his time as Assembly speaker. Although TDP senior leaders had earlier decided to call on DGP on Monday to lodge a complaint against what they saw as politically motivated accusations, however, later dropped the idea at the eleventh hour feeling that it would only boomerang against the party.
It is learnt that senior leader Butchaiah Chowdary had pointed out that allegations against Kodela Sivaprasad were coming up for long, and defending him would not help the party in any way as it would only give impression to the people that it was supporting corruption and wrongdoing.
To this Chandrababu Naidu believed to have agreed and instructed party leaders to remain tight lipped on the issue.
