New Delhi: Revolutionary changes would be brought in governance to “cleanse” the system of large scale corruption and irregularities that marked the five-year rule of outgoing TDP government, chief minister-designate of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy informed.

Jagan addressed press persons here on Sunday after calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah and gave a preview of things to expect in his new government in Andhra Pradesh.

Emphasising that his government would make “transparency” in the governance a top priority, Jagan promised to undertake necessary “cleansing” exercise from the grassroots to this effect. “White papers will be released on every department after the initial round of reviews to ensure that people know where we stand and what will be done,” he informed.

In the upcoming six months to one year, he said people would start witnessing revolutionary changes in the governance to keep corruption at bay. These include reverse tendering among others to ensure that the health of State exchequer would remain intact, he added.

“We will not just do the cleansing, but will also demonstrate to people as how it is done so that people get to know the reality. Our exemplary governance would make the nation stand up and take notice,” he asserted.

On the question about the new capital Amaravati, he said the Chandrababu Naidu government had resorted to “sensational scam” in the process of land pooling scheme and keeping the real estate sector booming in and around capital region. “Chandrababu Naidu and his benamis did something like insider trading. While he misled people at large, he got his men buy lands from farmers in the capital region at reduced prices and then announced the capital,” he lashed out.

He said his government would complete the Polavaram project on a war-footing basis and weed out contractors resorting to corrupt practices. “If need be, we will employ the services of Central government agencies to complete the project. We will ensure that it is completed in a time-bound manner,” he informed.

Continuing with his tirade against Chandrababu Naidu, he said the State was running under an overdraft and the State debt had increased from Rs 97,000 crore at the time of bifurcation to Rs 2.57 lakh crore in the last five years. He also said that his government would ban the sale of alcohol in the State gradually.

Terming his party’s manifesto as his Bible, Quran, and Bhagavad Gita, he said his government would deliver everything that was promised in toto.
