Vizianagaram: Named after the princely state of Vizianagaram, the district is situated in the northern coastal part and is the least populous in Andhra Pradesh. The town of Vizianagaram is the district headquarters. The population of the district is 23.44 lakh.
The district is bounded on the east by the district of Srikakulam, southwest by the district of Visakhapatnam, southeast by the Bay of Bengal, and northwest by the state of Odisha.

The delimitation has reduced its number of Assembly constituencies from 12 to nine. The Assembly segments of Terlam, Bhogapuram and Sativada have been merged with other constituencies.
