Mamata, Kejriwal To Read Lines From Chandrababu’s Script After Farooq?
TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu has been making lofty claims that he was the "Brand Ambassador" of development saying he was the one who began the IT wave, and that industrialists are investing in the state because of him and several other claims including that of developing Telangana state.
However, when it comes to campaigning in the state he is bringing in Northern leaders to the state. Ground reports say that there are hardly any people in his campaign rallies barring the Yellow shirted TDP cadre. Despite shelling out money and liquor, there are not many takers for his speeches. The North leaders are unable to gauge or impress the audience and Chandrababu seems to only criticise the opposition party leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Prime Minister Modi.
Chandrababu has nothing to talk about developing the state either and neither does he have any star campaigners who can campaign on his behalf. It is said that the film industry is not willing to campaign for him either unlike how they came forward in support of the late NTR.
With the film fraternity not showing interest in TDP, Chandrababu has resorted to bringing leaders from the neighbouring states and from the North in a hope to woo the voters. As an election strategy, he tried bringing in Kashmir leader Farooq Abdullah in regions where the minorities had to be appeased. However, that also was not effective, as he was talking more about Modi bashing and the Triple Talaq Bill, which did not quite resonate with the local people's mindsets.
It is reported that Chandrababu plans to bring in Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal , Mamata Banerjee and other leaders. This has led to widespread criticism that leaders who are not aware of the problems in the state are coming to the state to talk. Another criticism was that if the local TDP leaders could not talk about the welfare measures and situation in the state, how can a northern or other state leader come and convince the people of the same?
Apart from all this, N Chandrababu Naidu brings in his son IT Minister Nara Lokesh in the campaign sessions. This is creating a widespread fear among the TDP cadre because of what he might end up saying every time he goes out to speak. The instances are many where he has put the party in an embarrassing position, the latest being the "Ykapa" blooper in Visakhapatnam. These have resulted in a series of social media trolls causing damage to the party's already waning fortunes. It is learned the party has decided to reduce the number of his appearances in the campaign trail. Senior TDP leaders have also advised Chandrababu to limit his campaign in Mangalagiri from where he is contesting to save the party from any further humiliation.
