As per reports the Paritala family was expecting two tickets—Rapthadu and Kalyana Durgam. But with the seat allotment situation getting sticky for the TDP supremo N Chadnrababu Naidu, he is said to have retained her name in the TDP list for Rapthadu.
Paritala Sriram, son of the slain TDP leader Paritala Ravindra is a TDP aspirant who was keen on contesting elections this time. There was speculation on his place of contest. It is learnt that the sitting MLAs from Penugonda, Dharmavaram, Anantapur and Kalyandurg were not willing to sacrifice their seats. With Chandrababu's plate already full with deciding allotment of seats, he could not make space for Sriram's candidature. In order to make way for his political career she decided to quit the race and let her son contest the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections.
Speaking at a rally in Rapthadu, Paritala Sunitha invoked her husband's name Paritala Ravi and said that Sriram was his successor. She also requested the Rapthadu TDP cadre and Ravi's followers to support her son and ensure his success in the elections that will be held on April 11.
