AP DGP RP Thakur under EC Scanner

AP DGP  RP Thakur - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh (AP) Director General of Police (GDP) R P Thakur's position could be in the dock. Recent incidents of the AP police interference in the data-theft case, the DGPs encroachment of the GHMC park land and various other complaints have come to the notice of the Election Commission, apart from the lackadaisical manner in which the YSRCP leader YS Jagan murder attempt case was handled.

Official sources say that the Election Commission has asked the state government for the current list of DGPs.

It is believed that the partisan attitude of the ruling AP government in guiding R P Thakur to drive its agenda on the law and order front in the state, has raised eyebrows. As a result there could be chances of the Election Commission unseating him from his position.

The AP government has sent the names officers in the Director General Cadre in the state. The names that figure in the list include the 1986 batch of IPS officers- Vigilance Enforcement DGP D Gautam Sawang, DGP VSK Kaumudi who is currently on deputation with the CRPF DG in Delhi), Prisons Department DGP DG Vinay Ranjan Ray, RTC MD N V Surendra Babu, State Principal Secretary -Home, A R Anuradha . One of these candidates could be selected as Thakur's successor.
