Gurjala TDP MLA Yarapathineni Mining Mafia Resurfaces In Guntur
Guntur: After the Andhra Pradesh High Court took a serious view of the illegal mining of limestone in Palnadu region in Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh and ordered the State government to take measures to protect natural resources there last year, quarrying activity came to a standstill. This initiative was taken after former MLC TVG Krishna Reddy filed a writ in the High Court.
Gurazala TDP MLA Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao who is one of the main accused and embroiled in this alleged case of illegal mining in Guntur's Palnandu, Dachepalli areas and is also under CBI investigation, continues his illegal activities despite the case.
But this time his notoriety has gone up a another step where he is now indulging in threatening existing quarry owners, mining lease holders and illegally occupying their quarries , that too from the owners who have allegiance to the ruling Telugu Desam Party.
Recently former Gurzala MLA Gadipudi Mallikarjuna Rao's son Adinarayana attempted suicide after Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao and his hench men threatened him.
Adinarayana and his brother-in-law Bellamkonda Purnachandra Rao jointly owned 2.10 Acres of land under Survey no .325 in Kesanupally village in Dachepally Mandal where limestone deposits were found. They applied for permission from the mining authorities to quarry the limestone on July 10, 2018. The permission was granted in the name of Purnachandra Rao. Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao and his mining associates started illegally occupying closed quarries', grabbing quarries' which were already under retention and started getting permission for conducting mining operations, despite the CBI case pending against him.
In the process, they also occupied Adinarayana's quarry forcefully. Despite requesting Yarapathineni's associate Nelluri Srinivasa Rao who is also one of the main accused in the mining scam, there was no use and he went ahead and filed a police complaint with the Dachepalli Police. However, the police initiated no action and he left disappointed. He also sent his brother Koteswara Rao to the MLA, but the MLA asked him to take some nominal amount as compensation and leave. The MLA later called up Adinarayana on phone and severely abused and threatened him.
Aggrieved by the MLAs call and in a state of helplessness, Adinarayana tried to commit suicide by hanging but was saved in the nick of the time by his family members and is currently in the ICU.
Adinarayana ''s brother Koteswara Rao said that being the sons of former MLAs with close allegiance to the TDP party and its founder the late NT Rama Rao, he wondered how it would be for normal people of the state to stand up against the mining mafia and the local MLA Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao, he asked.
