YS Jagan Attack: NIA Approaches Court For Case Records

Accused J Srinivasa Rao - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: In a fresh development in the murder attempt on Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and YSR Congress Party President, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on October 25 at Visakhapatnam airport, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) sought the intervention of the NIA Special Court at Vijayawada, it is learnt. Sources say that NIA approached the Court for directions to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to hand over case details. The SIT, it is learnt, has refused to hand over the case records to NIA, forcing the national agency to approach the Court.

Observers pointed out that all along the Chandrababu Naidu government has been downplaying the murderous attack on YS Jagan. Within an hour of the murder attempt, the DGP of the state addressed the media and came up with an explanation which left everyone baffled. The seniormost police official in the state described the attacker, Janupalli Srinivasa Rao, as a frenzied fan of the YSRCP chief, who carried out the attack for publicity. Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, his cabinet colleagues, the DGP and the SIT chief, among others, ignored the conspiracy angle to the case, retired police officials and analysts have said.

The NIA Special Court is currently hearing the petition filed by the agency seeking case records from SIT.
