Visakhapatnam: After the attack on AP Leader of oppostion, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the airport lounge of the Visakhapatnam airport, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has stepped up security across airports in the country.
As this case was the first of its kind in the country, new guidelines have been issued to employees working at the restaurants and other counters saying they must posses a valid passport. Till now, passes were issued to them along with the identity cards issued by the employer.
The security of prominent people was put at risk because of passes to people. To address these lapses, new security measures are being put in place. All this while, entering an airport area even high security ones with passes and recommendations was possible.
With the passes issued prior to the guidelines, people could walk all over the airport apart from the runway. Now, it's mandatory to have an Aadhar card number. Only personal secretary or a helper with valid documents would be allowed.
