YS Jagan Attack: How It Happened
Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly and YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was sitting in the premium lounge of the Visakhapatnam airport along with a few YSRCP leaders. According to eye witnesses, a waiter approached him holding a bottle in his hand with a knife hidden behind it. The waiter was later identified as Srinivasa Rao, working at the canteen run by Harshvardhan, a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) aspirant for Gajuwaka constituency. Eye-witnesses said that Srinivasa Rao approached YS Jagan for a selfie as the AP Leader of Opposition rose from his seat in the lounge. He then lunged at the YSRCP Chief with a sharp knife and around the same time fortunately the mass leader turned away, as result of which, the knife pierced his left shoulder. Another eye witness said that it was fortunate that another YSRCP leader who was present on the occasion asked for a selfie to be taken with one of his supporters, which made it difficult for the attacker.
Clearly, the waiter was aiming at the people's leader's neck. It is being suspected that the knife was laced with poisonous substances. The murderous attack exposes the failure of the airport security considering the fact that it took place in what could be seen as a very safe place which is the premium lounge in the airport. YSRCP leaders have pointed out how YS Jagan's security has been compromised by the TDP government despite repeated letters, appeals and petitions.
