Andhra tourist found dead in Gulmarg

Srinagar: Five persons, including an elderly tourist from Andhra Pradesh and a police follower, were found dead under suspicious circumstances at separate places in Kashmir valley, police said on Tuesday.

Body of 71-year-old Bajid Khan Pathan, a tourist from Andhra Pradesh, was found at the famous ski resort of Gulmarg, 55 kms from Srinagar, in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

The body has been taken to Public Health Centre Gulmarg and police has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 Cr PC to ascertain the cause of his death”, he said.

Gulmarg is reeling under intense cold as night temperature plummeted below freezing point after the recent snowfall in the hill resort and other high altitude areas of the Valley.

The night temperature also hovers around zero degrees Celsius in the plains including Srinagar.
