Amaravati area villagers oppose express highways
With Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu giving enough indications that expressways would go through the Capital area roads, the people of Krishnayapalem, Rayapudi and other villages have decided approach the courts to prevent the AP government from laying roads through their villages.
The villagers argue that the State Government was totally deviating from the assurances it gave during the land-pooling. They say that the Government had assured them that their villages would not be disturbed in any manner. But, now the Government has gone back on its assurance and has said that the villagers cannot oppose roads and at the same time want their land rates to go up.
"We have already lost our farm lands to the capital area. Now, we will lose our homes too to the express highways,"said a local of Krishnayapalem.
The villagers held gram sabhas and opposed the construction of express highways through their villages.
