Akshaya Patra To Provide Mid-Day Meals To 35,000 Students In Telangana

Hyderabad: The Akshaya Patra Foundation in partnership with Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd (BTMU) laid foundation stone to build a full-fledged kitchen in Narsingi on Thursday.

The kitchen would prepare mid-day meals to over 35,000 children in government schools in Telangana from the next academic year.

Chairman of the foundation Madhu Pandit Dasa said, “Our joint initiative will benefit the state by providing meals to kids and employment to locals, especially women. We hope to continue to serve the nation and end classroom hunger by 2020.”

BTMU has pledged Rs 105.1 million to fund the construction of the centralized kitchen, according to a joint statement.

Along with Madhu Pandit Dasa, Ryoichi Shinke, regional executive of BTMU India, Hyderabad High Court Justice C V Nagarjuna Reddy were present at the program.
