Aadhaar Mandatory for Vehicle Registration, Driving License

Hyderabad: Telangana Trasport department is going to make Aadhaar card compulsory for the registrations, change of ownership of vehicles and driving license issuance soon.

Instructions in this connection will soon be issued by the concerned department, a source said. A few months back, Aadhaar number was made mandatory for the registration of new autos for address confirmation. With the new rule, owners of the vehicles will have to furnish their Aadhaar number without fail for the registration of vehicles and issuance of driving license.

By this step, it will be easier for the department to check how many vehicles are registered on a person with the Aadhaar number. However, submission of Aadhaar number for vehicle registrations and driving licenses is already in practice in Hyderabad city.
