7-Year-Old Boy Killed After Water-Tanker Runs Over Sleeping Family

Hyderabad: A seven-old-boy was crushed under a water-tanker on Saturday after it mowed down the boy and his family who were sleeping outside their house in Gachibowli.

A. Raju, a native of East Godavari was working as a watchman in Pearl Village villas at Majeedbanda village in Gachibowli. He was staying in the premises of the villa along with his wife Lakshmi, son Babu and daughter Veera Sivamani(4). As their room did not have a ceiling fan the family slept outside by the side of the road inside the gated community.

On Saturday, a water tanker was called into the community to fill an underground tank. The tanker driver Mahadevappa did not see the persons sleeping by the roadside and drove the vehicle over them. Babu was killed on the spot as the vehicle crushed his head, Sivamani’s right leg was crushed and Raju’s leg was broken. Lakshmi suffered a severe head injury.

Lakshmi's sister V. Singaram lodged a complaint with the police against the driver. Police registered a case and took the driver into custody.
