Hyderabad: Four workers were injured on Thursday after a LPG leakage which later caught fire during a pipeline work at Krupa complex at Safilguda.

Condition of an injured is critical as he sustained 87 percent injuries.

A case has been registered under section 285 of the IPC against IHP representatives - Venkata Ramana and Gangi Reddy - for not taking proper precautions for the workers

Neredmet sub-inspector Maqbool Jani said, “Workers took up welding work by drawing an LPG from a cylinder kept outside. As they began the work, the LPG leaked from the cylinder and got into the huge pipes. The leaked gas caught fire, triggering a huge explosion and injuring the workers who were inside the pipes.”

All the four workers were from Uttar Pradesh, who were employed by Indian Hume Pipe Company. A case has been registered under section 285 of the IPC against IHP representatives - Venkata Ramana and Gangi Reddy - for not taking proper precautions for the workers.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has taken up the Rs 338 crore World Bank funded Comprehensive Water Supply Services Improvements Project for GHMC Circle. As part of the project, the pipeline work was taken up between Defence Colony and Anandbagh, SI Maqbool said.
