2 Farmers Commit Suicide Due To Mounting Debts

Santhamaguluru (Prakasam): In a shocking incident, two farmers have allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide following mounting farm debts. In a two separate incidents, a farmer named Anjaneyulu (45) allegedly committed suicide in Yelchuru village of Santhamaguluru mandal in Prakasam district on Tuesday.

While Venkateshwara Reddy of Pullalacheruvu mandal in the district too took the extreme step by consuming insecticide at his farm due to farm debts. The police registered a case under mysterious death and investigation is on.

Even though, the State government claims to have been reducing farmers suicides significantly, such incidents have become a cause of concern in the farming community in the State.
