2 Arrested For Kidnapping Hyderabad Businessman

Hyderabad: Two persons were arrested on Wednesday by the central crime station officials in connection with abduction of a city based businessman and extortion of Rs60 lakh from him. The victims - Praduman Lohia is director of Gajanan Tamra Industries and his associate Bharat Lila deals with a copper wire business.

The accused Shakeel and Akbar hail from Haryana and one of them is an engineering graduate. Explaining about how the accused made victims fall into their trap, DCP Avinash Mohanty said that the accused lured their prey to believe that huge quantity of copper at very low price was available at Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

The victims were dropped at Palwal and managed to escape from the clutches and returned to Hyderabad. The victims then approached the city police commissioner Mahendar Reddy on May 21.

The victims then flew to Delhi on May 19 and were received by Shakeel, who then made them to board a taxi up to Sona near Gurugram. Shakeel was accompanied with his gang members Sajid and Mujassar, in an enroute threatened them at gun point and robbed Rs2.90 lakhs. They were moved to Palwal district, Haryana and were held captives. The accused made phone calls to victims families with a ransom of Rs50 lakhs.

The gang then demanded another Rs10 lakh to which the families transferred online. Later, the victims were dropped at Palwal and managed to escape from the clutches and returned to Hyderabad. The victims then approached the city police commissioner Mahendar Reddy on May 21. The CCS team then traced the bank details and arrested the accused.
