2 arrested for cheating with dummy iPhones

Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday arrested two men for cheating with fake iPhones. Police said the fraudsters were cheating the Apple company’s official service centre Aptronix here by getting original handsets with the exchange of faulty fake iPhones.
Police said, Prince Malhotra alias Sonu (22) and Aman Nagpal alias Arman Malik (23), both belong to New Delhi, were staying at Ayyappa Society in Madhapur by renting a room. They bought some dummy iPhones for cheaper prices in New Delhi and approached Apple’s official service centre Aptronix at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad with the fake one complaining the handset was not functioning on July 5. They got the new original handset from the service centre according to the company’s warranty.
Two days later, the service centre came to know that the handset which was handed over was not Apple’s manufacture and was confirmed as fake one. The manger of Aptronix complained with Jubilee Hills police on July 8. After receiving the complaint, the police deployed a surveillance on the matter. When the fraudsters again turned up with another fake handset at Aprtronix, police nabbed and arrested them. After the investigation, police collected 19 dummy iPhones, some fake receipt books, rubber stamps including a few broken iPhones and a Chevrolet car from the fraud.
