14-Year-Old Orphan Girl Raped In Old City

The girl was admitted to orphanage by locals after her parents died few years ago - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: A 14-year-old orphan girl was raped by a shopkeeper at Dabeerpura in the Old City. The incident came to light on Monday after the girl complained of abdominal pain because of purported pregnancy and she was seen vomiting by the orphanage staff.

“When the victim was vomiting, the orphanage staff grew suspicious. They suspected that the victim was pregnant. They shifted her to a hospital for examination. We are awaiting medical reports," said D Venkanna Naik, Dabeerpura Inspector.

The accused Shahid (26) has been arrested who then confessed to his offense to the police.

Balala Hakkula Sangam president Anuradha said that the incident might have happened due to negligence of the orphanage staff and demanded stern action against the accused

The girl was admitted to orphanage by locals after her parents died few years ago. Police informed that she worked at a nearby shop as a helper. The accused befriended and later sexually assaulted her.

A case under section 376 (rape) has been registered against the accused and police are also questioning the orphanage staff.

Meanwhile, Balala Hakkula Sangam president Anuradha said that the incident might have happened due to negligence of the orphanage staff and demanded stern action against the accused.
