1.3 Lakh People Aadhaar Data Leaked Through AP Govt Website

Vijayawada: In an shocking expose, security researcher Kodali Srinivas showed how Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation's website was leaking the Aadhaar data, bank accounts along with IFSC code, caste and religion as well as geo-location of 1.34 lakh beneficiaries of housing schemes. The expert said that the website has personal details on the page titled Beneficiary Details.
Srinivas said that he hadn't hacked website, but was just exposing the already uploaded details. He claims to have alerted the Universal Identification Authority of India, the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre, CERT-In, the Centre's cyber response wing and the State government authorities.
The security researcher said that the AP government was going overboard in collecting Aadhaar details. "It might be doing it either deliberately or under the influence of techno-utopians, who beleive technology will solve all the issues," he observed.
