10 held for sexually assaulting minor girl in Rajahmundry
Rajahmundry, Ten persons have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, police said here on Friday.
The incident occurred on December 27 last year but came to light today after the girl was found at Vemallapally village under Dwarapudi police station limits of the district.
The girl's sister had lodged a missing complaint at Mandapeta police station stating that her 16-year-old sister was missing since the morning of December 27.
Later, the police registered a case and launched a search to trace the missing minor girl, Mandapeta Circle Inspector Ramana said.
The minor, who worked in a cloth shop alleged that 10 men sexually assaulted her, Ramana said.
The Mandapeta police has taken the 10 people into custody and registered cases under Section 354 (A), 342, Section 12 and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against them.
Further investigations are on, he added.
