Kuala Lumpur: Around 25 people including 23 students were killed after a fire broke out at Malaysian religious school in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday evening.

The fire engulfed the school building killing at least 23 students and two school wardens. The fire fighters arrived at the spot and doused the fire. "Most of the students died due to smoke inhalation," Khirudin Drahman, director of Kuala Lumpur's fire and rescue department said.

Loga Bala Mohan, the government's federal territories deputy minister said, "We sympathize with the families. It is one of the worst fires involving so many lives in the capital in recent years.

"We urgently want the authorities to quickly probe the cause of the deadly fire so that we will be able to prevent future disasters." he added.
