YSRCP with farmers, assures Jagan
Assuring the farmers that YSR Congress will stand by the farmers who are being cheated by the TDP government by procuring multi-crop lands, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has appealed to the people to join hands and put up a stern fight against the gross injustice.
Addressing the gathering at Penumaka and Udavalli near here he said: “Our Party has been in the forefront in taking up the issues, with the local MLA sitting on fast, Farmers’ Rights Protection Committee of the Party touring the area four times and 42 legislators undertaking padayatra in protest against the forcible acquisition of fertile lands and my tour is in continuation of the agitation against the injustice.
We have given voice to your dissent in Parliament when the Centre tried to carry out amendments to the Land Acquisition Act which enables the State to acquire multi-crop lands and also opposed the social impact assessment (SIA) policy,”
In the name of Vastu or building the capital in the river front area, Chandrababu Naidu has zeroed in on this area but the way land is being acquired is inhuman. Not just farmers, tenant farmers and farm hands but shepherds, weavers and others too are equally affected with the land acquisition, he said.
The injustice taking place here should be known to the people of state and the country as fertile lands are being forcibly taken away by the State depriving them of livelihood, he said asked the people to speak out the way which the State has been snatching away their bread.
Scores of people, including women poured their woes out and said that they are totally dependent on the land which is the only source of income for them. The land provides direct and indirect employment to many locals.
The farmhands said they earn around Rs 24,000 per month while the farmers said their revenue would be over Rs 3 to 4 lakh per annum.
Chandrababu Naidu has deceived locals. First it was the promise of loan waiver which came a cropper. Then the gold pawned with the bank could not be redeemed and added to these miseries is the acquisition of multi-crop lands and snatching our livelihood, they said.
