YSRCP to corner TDP Govt on loan waiver

* AP Assembly winter session to begin from Thursday

The five-day AP legislative assembly session, which will begin on Thursday, promises to be stormy.

The debt redemption scheme being implemented for farmers is expected to dominate the proceedings as government is prepared to make a suo moto statement, while the opposition YSR Congress is seeking to nail the Chandrababu Naidu-led government by raising the anomalies in it. YSRC leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is expected to corner the government on various issues, including the debt redemption scheme for farmers.
YSRCP GEARS UP TO TAKE ON GOVT: The YSRCP chief has already asked his MLAs to grill the government for its failures. "The people are waiting for us to take up their fight," said party chief YS Jagan.
At least five bills, including the crucial one that enables setting up of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), will be taken up during the brief winter session. The government is also getting ready to make statements on four other issues of public importance during the session that is expected to conclude on December 24.
The Business Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday to decide whether a sitting should be held on Saturday, normally a holiday, to transact business in view of the heavy agenda.

CRDA BILL: The CRDA is being set up to cover the proposed state capital region near Vijayawada as a replacement to the existing Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority. The Bill also has a provision to give legal framework to the new land-pooling system for securing required land for the construction of the capital city and other infrastructure. It will be the first instance in the country where over 30,000 acres of land is being secured under the pooling system for a public purpose by making the owners partners in development.

OTHER BILLS: A Bill to replace an Ordinance, issued recently for cutting down the Value-Added Tax on Aviation Turbine Fuel to one per cent, will also be introduced along with another Bill to amend the VAT Act for introduction of Invoice Tracking System. A fourth Bill to replace an Ordinance on abolition of various temple trust boards and one more related to the scrapping of agricultural market committees are also on the government's agenda for the session.

STATEMENTS EXPECTED: Statements will be made on the new sand policy, under which the excavation and sale rights are being vested with the women self-help groups, the government's plan to launch the 'Smart AP' programme from January, checking of red sanders' smuggling and enhanced social security pensions for different sections.
