YSRCP Slams TDP Over Silence On Support Price to Paddy

MVS Nagi Reddy - Sakshi Post

YSRCP farmers wing president MVS Nagi Reddy questioned the silence of the State Government over the Centre not announcing support price for paddy.

In a statement, Nagi Reddy said the Centre has announced a Rs 100 increase and a bonus of Rs 25 on wheet and 10.4 per cent on mustard for 2026-17 Rabi season. He said the increase could be due to the impending elections in Punjab and UP. "But why was paddy ignored and why is Chandrababu Naidu keeping silent on this?" he asked. He said the TDP had during elections said that it would implement Swaminathan Commission's recommendations. But, the per quintal support price, which should be Rs 2850 according to Swaminatha's recommendations, is fixed at a paltry Rs 1470 per quintal.

He said Chandrababu has never taken up the issue of support price for paddy. He asked the TDP Government to wake up and demand that the Centre give a bonus of Rs 300 per quintal on paddy.
