* Assures to raise the issue in Assembly

Leader of Opposition in AP assembly and YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaggan Mohan Reddy consoled the family members of the party leader and vice-sarpanch Alokam Krishna Rao (56), who was brutally murdered by some unidentified miscreants in Gottumukkala village in Kanchikacharla mandal of Krishna district.

"This attack is as gruesome as it is reprehensible. He was attacked because he did not vote for the ruling party. Though Rao's wife was pleading with them to spare her husband, the attackers bludgeoned him to death. There is an attempt to let loose a rein of terror. The police are refusing to register cases despite repeated requests," said Jagan. "We will raise this issue in the Assembly. There have been 19 deaths of YSRCP activists ever since Chandrababu took over," he added.

Jagan arrived at Gannavaram airport at around 9 am to a grand welcome and straightway drove to Gottumukkala. Jagan assured Rao's family members that he would stand by them at all times. Jagan instilled confidence among the party workers.

He also spoke to the police authorities and demanded that the culprits be arrested immediately. He alleged that the police were shielding the culprits.

A gang of 10 unidentified miscreants barged into the Krishna Rao's residence on Sunday night, dragged him out and thrashed him to death.
When the neighbors tried to come to Rao's rescue, the attackers threatened them with dire consequences. He died on the way to hospital.

Several YSRCP leaders alleged that a day before the incident, Krishna Rao requested police for providing him with protection as he was being threatened by some people. They also said that one key TDP leader said to be behind the murder and he is now influencing the police to save the accused.
