YSRCP dharna successful
The one-day dharna programme of YSR Congress in protest against the TDP’s failure to secure the rightful share of Krishna waters to the State and its anti-farmer policies has been a grand success and people participated in large numbers to express their dissent over the Chandrababu Naidu government.
“The dharna was a success and we condemn the policed high-handedness at Visakhapatnam where force was used against our party cadre. It is a pity that there was no one to receive a memorandum on behalf of the Government,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters on Thursday.
Barring Prakasam and Kurnool, where elections to the Legislative Council are due, the dharna programme was carried out in all other districts and people have expressed their ire against the Chandrababu Naidu government, she said.
“The Chief Minister has been on a compromise mode and was silent before the Krishna Water Authority only to come out of the cash for vote scam. This is reason why his government did not voice the concern of state to get its rightful share of Krishna waters,” she said.
Ever since the cash for vote scam broke out, Chandrababu Naidu has been holding a series of meetings on how to come out of the situation and has left administration in the lurch. With the onset of monsoon, no agriculture plan was drawn from finance to availability of inputs and farmers are the worst affected due to the negligence.
The loan waiver has left farmers high and dry and they are forced to take loans from private moneylenders who charge exorbitant rates of interest and push them into a debt trap, she said.
There was good response to the dharna programe and we condemn the highhandedness of the police at Visakhapatnam, she said.
