Several YSR Congress Party leaders and workers were arrested  when they attempted to besiege Vidyut Soudha at Somajiguda on Wednesday  protesting against irregular power cuts.

Scores of YSRCP activists participated in the rally, which began at Erramanjil.

The police prevented the YSRCP workers to proceed further at Somajiguda and arrested them.

There was a verbal clash between the YSRCP leaders and the police as the latter tried to whisk them away in police vans. Tension prevailed when the police allegedly resorted to lathicharge on women.

In the lathichage, YSRCP leader Vangapandu Usha was injured and her condition is said to be serious. She was  admitted to NIMS Hospital. It is learnt that several other women were also injured in the lathicharge.
