YSRCP Demands Immediate Roll Back Of Hiked Power Tariff

The YSR Congress Party has strongly criticised the Telugu Desam Government's decision to hike the power tarriff hours after the assembly sessions ended. This move shows the anti-people attitude of the Government and its political bancruptcy, said the party.

In a statement issued on Friday, the YSRCP demanded that the Andhra Pradesh Government immediately rescind its decision and roll back the hiked tariff. The TDP Government had announced power tariff hike, which would affect the common people to a tune of Rs 800 crore. The party pointed out that there was no need to hike the tariff as the coal rates have come down significantly in the international market over year 2009. The said that the government was trying to cover up its inability to pay provide subsidy to the DISCOMS by transferring the burden to the common man by hiking the power tariff. The party said the TDP government will have to face people's ire if the hiked tariff is not rolled back.
