YSRCP Challenges AP Govt’s Decision To Withdraw Criminal Cases Against TDP Leaders
Hyderabad: Challenging the AP government's decision to withdraw criminal cases against its Ministers, MLAs and MLCs, YSRCP MLA from Mangalagiri Alla Ramakrishna Reddy on Monday filed a petition in the Hyderabad High Court.
The YSRCP MLA contended that withdrawal of cases through a Government Order (GO) is against the law and Indian Constitution.
The state government has issued a GO lifting various criminal cases and prosecution against 278 TDP leaders, including the AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, Ministers — K. Atchen Naidu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and several TDP bigwigs.
Ramakrishna Reddy appealed to the Court to cancel the GO issued by the state government. The Court would hear the petition on August 8.
Some cases pertained to Samaikya Andhra movement, the TDP government also ordered withdrawing serious cases involving election offences and other illegal activities against the TDP leaders.
Besides Atchannaidu and Ganta, Deputy Chief Ministers KE Krishnamurthy and N. Chinarajappa, Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Kollu Ravindra, Nakka Anandababu, MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, TV Rama Rao, Gollapalli Suryarao, Datla Subba Raju, Dasari Balavardhan Rao, Chintamaneni Prabhakar, A Anandarao, M Ashok Reddy, MLC Karanam Balaram Krishna Murthy were among several others who were facing criminal charges that were withdrawn by the Home Department.
