YSRCP bats for Samaikyandhra, TDP boycotts meeting - Sakshi Post

The group of ministers (GoM), constituted to deal with issues emerging from the bifurcation of the state, held consultations with all major political parties from the state.

Four political parties, TRS, BJP, CPI and MIM unanimously opposed Hyderabad as the common capital. They also vehemently opposed giving Hyderabad a Union Territory Status.  YSR Congress Party and CPI (M) batted for Samaikyandhra state, while the main opposition party in the state TDP, boycotted the meeting.
On the other hand, the ruling Congress party failed to reach a consensus among its own ranks.
The GoM, comprising Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Defence Minister AK Antony, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and others had invited eight political parties from Andhra Pradesh for individual meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday to present their views on the bifurcation issue.
Parties and their views:
Congress:
The three-member delegation of Andhra Pradesh Congress, comprising Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, Minister for Tourism & Culture Vatti Vasant Kumar and Minister for Primary Education Sailajanath, met the GoM here.
While Narasimha demanded that the Bill on Telangana be brought in the upcoming session of Parliament, the Ministers from Seemandhra region urged the GoM to review its decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
"We told the GoM why don't you review your decision and take a step back. All contentious issues have started cropping up and are magnifying day-by-day," Vasant Kumar said. The GoM is in a state of confusion as they are unable to understand what is happening, he claimed.
However, Damodar Raja Narasimha stated that the GoM was urged to expedite the process of introducing the Telangana bill in the winter session of the Parliament starting on December 5.
He further stated that Telangana is a reality and they would stand by the decision of Congress Working Committee (CWC).

TRS:
TRS has informed the GoM that infringement in the State administration in the name of law and order will not be tolerated.
"The Centre State relations with Telangana should be like with 28 other States in the country. Tinkering with the administration in the name of law and order will not be tolerated by the society and our party," TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao told reporters.
MIM:
Hyderabad as common capital or union territory was not acceptable to his party. He also explained to GoM that keeping law and order in Hyderabad and other subjects with the centre would be unconstitutional.
He demanded that a part of Hyderabad be made an interim capital of the two states with a clear timeframe to develop a new capital of Seemandhra.
The MIM chief, who submitted a supplementary memorandum to GoM,  termed as 'absolute rubbish' that Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra) people living in Hyderabad would face a threat after bifurcation.
Demanding protection for Muslims and Christians in Telangana, Owaisi claimed that they and not Seemandhra people face threat as Sangh Parivar and BJP would grow stronger in the separate state.

YSRCP:

YSRCP representatives M. V. Mysoora Reddy and Gattu Ramachandra Rao vehemently opposed the division of the state in the meeting.  Reiterating their demand for a United Andhra, the YSRCP leaders said, "There is no change in our stand. It was same then and it is same now.  We will oppose every step taken towards the bifurcation of the State. Our Party demands with clarity and conviction that the State should be united, and should not be divided under any circumstances."

BJP:

BJP leader Kishan Reddy said they made it clear that BJP stand for formation of Telangana state comprising 10 districts with Hyderabad as the capital.
They also wanted the centre to allay apprehensions of Seemandhra people. Reddy was accompanied by Haribabu, a party leader from Seemandhra.
Kishan Reddy also wanted to know from GoM why they were seeking opinion of other parties without the ruling Congress party and the central government spelling out their stand.

CPI:
CPI, which is also supporting formation of Telangana state, suggested a separate mechanism to maintain law and order in Hyderabad till a permanent capital for Seemandhra is developed.
CPI leader Narayana said they called for setting up development councils for development of Rayalaseema and north coastal Andhra regions and an expert committee for sharing of river water.
