YSRCP leader Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy participating in YSR Ganga Aarathi

Kurnool: YSR Ganga Aarathi was performed with pomp and grandeur at Siddhapuram in Atmakur mandal here today. A large number of farmers and women from neighbouring villages joined the celebrations and recalled the contribution of late Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy in helping the agriculturists of the region with his visionary planning. YSR Congress Party Nandyala Parliamentary district president as well as Srisailam Constituency coordinator Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy orgnised this programme which witnessed a massive influx of people from all over. It is reported that 1200 women came with Bonalu (offerings) and participated in special poojas for Gangamma goddess.

Women who came from Sanjeev Nagar Thanda offered Bonalu to the idols of Gangamma near the Siddhapuram lake. Later they participated in the yagam that was organised as part of the programme. Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy said that it was only because of the late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy's vision that the Siddhapuram irrigation project could be developed. The water from this project was helping in making the surrounding lands cultivable, he said.

It is to pay tributes to the great leader Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, that this YSR Ganga Aarathi programme is being conducted by local farmers and women.
