YSR Congress spokesperson Sobha Nagireddy dies in road accident
YSR Congress candidate Sobha Nagireddy died in a city hospital on Friday afternoon after an accident on Thursday night in Hyderabad. Ms Reddy, 46, was critically injured after the four-wheeler in which she was returning after campaigning last night overturned.
The accident occurred at around 11.30 pm last night when Sobha Nagireddy, contesting from Allagadda assembly constituency, was returning after an election campaign in Kurnool.
Sobha, who sustained serious bleeding injuries in the incident was rushed to a private hospital at Banjara Hills here while the two gunman and the vehicle driver who also suffered injuries were undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kurnool and their condition was out of danger, a police officer said.
"It seems the vehicle driver lost control while trying to take a turn as paddy was put on the road," the police officer said.
Sobha was supposed to contest elections with her husband Mr Bhooma Nagireddy from Allagadda and Nandyal in Kurnool district.
Sobha had earlier quit TDP to join Praja Rajyam and later joined YSRC. She was also the official spokesperson of YSRCP.
