YS Jagan slams tardy pace of Polavaram works - Sakshi Post

As part of his three-day Project Bata, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday afternoon visited Polavaram and inspected the project site.

YS Jagan spoke to the site engineers at the Polavaram site. He expressed surprise and disappointment at the tardy pace of the works at Polavaram. He said the project is estimated to cost Rs 16000 crore, but only Rs 100 crore were spent during the last 11 months of Chandrababu rule. He reminded the officials that while late YS Rajasekhara Reddy had spent Rs 4000 crore during his reign, but Chandrababu Naidu has deliberately neglected the project.

When the officials told him that they could spend only Rs 100 crore due to unsolved relief and rehabilitation issues, YS Jagan asked them how the R and R related issues of Pattiseema project were solved in just two days.

“You could solve the R and R issues in just two days for Pattiseema, but kept the R and R of Polavaram pending for 11 months. It is a deliberate attempt to water down the all-important Polavaram project,” he said.

He further pointed out that Chandrababu had said before the elections that he would complete Polavaram within three years. After he had won the elections, he changed tack and said the project would be completed in four years. As late as yesterday, the government said the project would be completed in five years. I demand that Chandrababu come clean on the exact time-frame of project completion.

Earlier, YS Jagan inspected the Dowlaiswaram barrage and Arikarevula Lift Irrigation scheme near Rajahmundry. Late in the evening, he would visit Pattiseema project. Senior YSRCP leaders accompanied YS Jagan.
