YS Jagan demands higher ex-gratia
Demanding a higher compensation to the kin of the deceased in the mishap at a firecrackers unit near Vakatippa YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said, TDP government has to have a uniform policy for ex-gratia and should not use it for publicity or political means.
The State should announce a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased member and an adequate amount to those injured as per the established norms and not according to the whims and fancies of the Chief Minister,’ he said after consoling the affected people in the blast that took place at a local firecracker manufacturing unit.
For announcing the compensation, the Chief Minister has his own yardstick and varies from place to place and incident to incident though the loss of human life is common in all the places. This has to be condemned and the publicity monger in him deciding the amount of compensation is bad governance and discrimination.
“We demand that adequate amount should be paid as compensation as the fireworks factory has been in existence for the past 25 years and the establishment has many workers,” he said and found fault with the Government’s attitude of trying to hide away the family members of the deceased in Mandal office so that no one can reach them and console.
“This is politicizing the issue. Everyone has the right to console the family of the victims and speak to the injured and assure help from the government,” he said.
