YS Jagan Assures To Fight for Tribal, Polavaram Project Oustees’ Rights
"Polavaram project is undoubtedly very important, but provision of relief and rehabilitation to the tribals is also very important," said YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Addressing a large gathering of tribals and Polavaram oustees at Rampachodavaram on Wednesday as part of his two day tour of the Agency area in East Godavari district, he said the tribal lands are being forcibly taken away and no compensation is being given.
Sympathy for Contractors, Not Tribals: "It's three years since Chandrababu took over, but he has done nothing for the people. Chandrababu is not showing any sympathy to the tribals and the farmers who would lose lands, while he is all sympathy for the Polavaram contractors," YS Jagan said.
He elicited opinions from the tribals and the general public on the delay in providing relief to the tribal at a meeting in Rampachodavaram of East Godavari district.
Tribals Being Hit Badly: Reminding that no houses were constructed for the project oustees as part of the R and R Package. "Only 125 houses have been constructed and they were constructed during YSR's regime," he reminded. Not even an acre of land has been given to the poor people. Instead, he is forcibly trying to acquire the lands belonging to the poor and the under-privileged.
He assured to fight for the rights of the tribals and the poor. " Polavaram is possible only because of the sacrifices of the tribals. They should be recognised for their contribution. The YSRCP will continue to fight for their rights ," he said.
Just Demands: YS Jagan also demanded that land for land for the project oustees in the project command area and additional compensation on par with the present land rates should be given. Every one who is 18 years of age should be given a package of not less than Rs 10 lakh, he demanded. Terming these demands just, he said he would bring pressure on the Chandrababu government through people's struggles.
TDP On Way Out: Stating that Chandrababu is on his way out, he thundered: "Already three years have been completed. Two years later, a people's Government would be formed and the tribals would get an R and R package on par with Amaravati and Pattiseema project."
