Youths Top Drunk And Drive Offenders List in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In an alarming trend, youngsters in the age group of 21 to 30 years have topped the list of drunk and drive offenders in the city. Of those who were caught during the checks, 38.07 percent are in the age group of 21 to 30 years. The statistics also show that the victims in this age group are more prone to accidents.

According to the city traffic police, women are being served liquor in violation of norms at various pubs, bars and restaurants. Even as though the incidents of woman violating traffic rules — rash driving, drunk driving have gone up in the city, so far only 54 cases have been registered against women traffic violators due to a staff crunch in the traffic police wing. This prevents the policemen from checking on women offenders.

A few days ago, an engineering student from Sathyabama University — Karthik crashed his vehicle into a parked vehicle at Jubilee Hills. He lost his friend Jatin Varma in the mishap.
