Youth Records Selfie Video Blaming Cricket Betting As The Cause Of His Death

Hyderabad: A video of a 19-year-old, Basupalli Vijay, who committed suicide on Sunday has gone viral now, in which he blamed cricket betting for the reason to end his life. Vijay committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at his field at Dontapally village, Shankarpally mandal in Vikarabad district.

"Nobody should be involved in betting. I am committing suicide because of betting. Uncle, brothers, other family members and relatives please don’t get involved in betting," Vijay said the video.

The deceased parents - Bikshapathi and Pochamma - say that they believe that Vijay was depressed because he was not given money when asked for.

However, Shankarpally SI K. Kranthi Kumar says how much money Vijay lost or owes is not known and they are looking at the betting angle. "We analyzed his mobile phone, but did not find the video clip. We are verifying his call data records for clues which could have led him to take the extreme step,” Kranthi Kumar said.
