Yanamala says house can overrule its own rules
The issue of YSRCP MLA Roja's suspension for one year rocked the Assembly on Saturday. As the house assembled, Leader of the Opposition YS Jagan strongly questioned the way Roja was suspended. He said this was against the house rules.
However, Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the house as the right to overrule its own rules and even courts cannot interfere in the decision taken by the house. He said the house has unlimited power and said there was no need to discuss this.
Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad said Roja did not apologise for her remarks even though she had half hour time after the announcement of her suspension. Speaker said Roja would not be allowed into the YSRCP legislature Party office also. "If a member is suspended, he cannot even stay in the Assembly quarters.
The YSRCP MLAs protested against this by raising slogans. The speaker adjourned the house for 10 minutes.
WE WILL NOT BE COWED DOWN: YSRCP MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy accused the TDP government of stiffling the voice of the YSRCP. He said such dictatorial tendencies would be defeated. He said no action was being taken when Chandrababu threatens to finish off the Opposition and when ministers like Acchan Naidu, Devineni Uma and Yanamala use abusive words for both YS Jagan and late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. He said the YSRCP MLAs would not be cowed down by such dictatorial actions.
