Interpol Chief Missing Since September 25

According to a report published in the Reuters UK, it has come to light that Interpol chief, Meng Hongwei has gone missing since September 25 after he made an unscheduled visit to his native China.

Meng's wife, who lives in Lyon, France where the Interpol office is based, contacted the French Police authorities after not hearing from her husband since he travelled to China in the last week of September. She also claimed that they were receiving threats on phone and Social Media ever since he disappeared, so the French authorities have placed his wife and family under protection.

Its not clear whether he was detained by Chinese authorities immediately after he landed, whether he is in detention for questioning with the Chinese authorities, but the French Government are continuing exchanges with the Chinese authorities for his release. The International Criminal Police Organization, more commonly known as Interpol, elected Meng Hongwei as its head two years ago.
