Jagan slams tardy, ineffectual relief works
YSRCP president Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy blamed the authorities for not providing any form of help till now to the people affected with recent Hudhud cyclone.
“Protesting against the same, YSRCP will stage dharna at all Tehsildar offices in the state on November 5,” announced Y.S.Jagan.
He called upon all DWACRA women and people to actively participate in the program.
Y.S.Jagan, who has been visiting cyclone affected victims for the last one week, visited several villages in Vizianagaram district on Monday. During the visit, he interacted with the Hudhud-hit people and relief provided by the government.
Speaking on the occasion, Y.S.Jagan said that the officials are not estimating the actual loss of various kinds in some towns. “Some families got about 25 kgs of rice. This is not in addition to the amount that these people were being given before the devastating cyclone hit these areas,” said the leader of opposition.
“There is no loan waiver for the farmers and no rescheduling of the loans. There is no crop insurance. With this, the banks may collect up to 14 percent interest. How can the farmers pay back the same in these situations?,” asked Y.S.Jagan. He asked the state government how the farmers can get the money for another crop.
“The state government is not looking into these issues and is in deep slumber. It is not showing any interest to provide the farmers with the right compensation. At the time of elections, the ruling party leaders had made several promises. But, none of the problems of the people are being taken care of by the government,” asked Y.S.Jagan.
He warned the state government that he won’t keep quiet if the compensation is meagre. He demanded a compensation ranging from Rs.5,000 to Rs.50,000 for the trees uprooted by cyclone.
Party sympathiser Kakarlapudi Srinivasaraju donated a sum of Rs.1 lakh to YSR Foundation for giving to Hudhud cyclone victims.
Party leaders like Sujay Krishna Rangarao, Rajanna Dora, K.Veerabhadra Swamy, P.Sambasiva Raju, Baby Nayana, L.Appireddy, Suryanarayana Raju and others accompanied him.
