Woman MP says she slapped DMK MP

New Delhi: A Chennai-bound Jet Airways flight from here was delayed after two MPs from Tamil Nadu belonging to rival parties, allegedly got into a scuffle. The incident happened around 2 PM when flight 9W-854 was getting ready for departure, an airport source said.

An AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP Sasikala Pushpa was travelling to Chennai on the flight, and a DMK Rajya Sabha MP ‘Tiruchy’ Siva was also scheduled to travel on that, the source said. According to the source, after the DMK MP came to know about it, the lawmaker decided not to travel on the flight. While returning to the check-in area, the two lawmakers got into scuffle and the airport staff had to intervene, the source said.

Meanwhile according to a report in The Hindu MP Sasikala Pushpa on Saturday claimed she slapped DMK Rajya Sabha MP ‘Tiruchy’ Siva at the Delhi airport because the latter, she reportedly said, exceeded all limits while criticising Amma (Jayalalithaa) and her government.”

The AIADMK MP said that she could not remain a mute spectator. Pushpa claimed she and Siva were waiting for the security clearance when he was levelling allegations against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. The AIADMK MP reportedly slapped the DMK MP as he became very vocal at one point. She also claimed that her house was attacked after the incident.
