Mancherial: In a shocking incident, a woman killed her own brother to get a dependent job in Singareni Collieries Company for her paramour in Dharmaram mandal in Peddapalli district, Telangana. The women and her paramour strangulated the victim and buried the body in a rivulet.

The incident occurred in January 2016. The Peddapalli police cracked the mystery after 18 months when they exhumed the body of 26-year-old Kaveti Venkatesham at Chamanapally rivulet in Peddapally district on Saturday.

According to the police, Venkatesham was the younger son of Kaveti Ramulu, a native of Khammam district. The family had settled in Srirampur area in Mancherial district after securing a job in Singareni Collieries.

Ramulu had also another son Nageshwara Rao and duahgter Nagamani. Elder son Nageshwara Rao settled as a farmer in his native Ravikampadu village of Chandrupadu mandal in Khammam, while younger son was working as a photographer and was residing with his wife Priyanka in Peddapalli town.

Nagamani was married to one Katta Pochaiah of Katikenapally village in Dharmaram mandal in the Peddapalli district but she divorced him to live with one Velpula Mallesham(35) of the same village.

The family had decided to give dependent job to Venkatesham since he had not settled financially.

Since their father had resolved to pass on Singareni dependent job to second son Venkatesham, Nagamani hatched a plot to kill her brother so that the route will be clear for her new husband Mallesham to get the dependent job.

Nagamani and Mallesham had hatched a plan to kill her brother. Nagamani invited her brother to her house in Katikenapally for dinner on January 15 last year. Husband Mallesham, Nagamani along with the help of a third person Chikkala Rayamallu(40) strangled Venkatesham to death. On the same night, all the three drove the body to Chamanapally rivulet in a car and buried the victim.

Thinking that Venkatesham had gone missing, wife Priyanka called Nagamani. As per her suggestion, the victim's wife lodged a missing case with the Dharmaram police in January, 2016.

Meanwhile, Dharmaram sub-inspector Baburao gathered clues and interrogated Nagamani and her husband in the case. During the investigation, Nagamani, Mallesham confessed that they had killed Venkatesham with a hope to secure Singareni job.

A team of the Peddapalli police visited the rivulet near Chamanpally and exhumed the body of Venkatesham. The police registered a case and arrested Nagamani and her husband Mallesham along with the third person — driver Rayamallu and also the elder brother of the victim who indirectly helped them in the crime. Peddapalli DCP Vijayender Reddy, ACP Sindhu Sharma, CI Mahesh carried out the operation and produced the accused before the media.
