Woman falls to death from Basavatarakam cancer hospital

Banjara Hills: A woman who mistook an emergency exit for a toilet door fell to her death from a hospital building on Thursday. The incident happened in Banjara Hills at the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital.

Khairunnisa Begum, a native of Karimnagar accompanied her daughter Zakeera Sultana who was admitted here at Basavatharakam - Indo American Cancer hospital. On Thursday afternoon Sultana was taken in for a surgery to the operation theatre in Block 3 of the hospital. Khairunnisa followed her daughter up to the pre-operative ward.

A little while later she went to relieve herself in a room marked as 'Toilet'. Thereafter she tried to exit through another door of an adjoining room. This proved to be fatal for her as she plunged down to her death from there. The door that she used was meant as an emergency access to be used for drainage and electrical repairs.

Khairunnisa's family approached the Banjara Hills police station who sent a clues team to incident spot to gather evidence. Media was however not allowed access to the spot and kept at bay. The police have registered a case and have begun investigating.
