Woman Caught Trying To Break ATM Open In Vijayawada

Vijayawada: A woman was caught red-handed while trying to break open an ATM in the city on Sunday. The woman, a resident of Ramavarappadu, entered an HDFC ATM located opposite Hotel Gateway on Bandar Road late in the evening when there was no public movement in the area. She cut the wires supplying power to the ATM and was trying to break open the machine.

Before she could do anything more, a few customers entered the ATM booth and noticing what was up to, caught her. She tried to run away but the customers restrained her with her own chunni and called the police. She wore hand gloves and carried instruments clearly meant to help her burglarize the booth such as an acid bottle, cutting pliers, cutter and a screw driver, among other things. Police took her into custody and produced her in a court on Monday.
