Will abide by the High Court orders on GHMC elections: KCR
Hyderabad: K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana has stated that the government would follow the directions of the honourable High Court in conducting the GHMC elections. He said he would abide by the High Court's orders on the GHMC elections.
The CM stated that the election period was shortened with the intention of not causing much inconvenience to the citizens of Hyderabad. Owing to its large population, elections for GHMC are a long drawn out affair which inconveniences the public he said.
About a lakh government officials would be on election duty, he said. These officials would not be available to do their regular work for about a month and this causes disruption of services and also development work will be stalled for the said period, he said.
The High Court had earlier stricken off the G.O to shorten the election period. The court had stayed the decision to conduct the elections in 15 days and given orders to complete the election activity by February 9th or 10th.
