Will 2.0 US Rights Be More Than Baahubali?
Super star Rajinikanth's 2.0 is one of the most awaited films of the year. 2.0 was supposed to release last year during Diwali. But the theatrical release was pushed to December. Unfortunately, the film failed to release in that month too because of a delay caused by graphics work.
2.0 is the sequel to Sankar's Robo which was released in the year 2010. This is first film directly shot in the 3D format. It is being made with a budget of Rs 450 Cr and among most expensive Indian film. Last year, the makers unveiled some of the posters from the film which went viral on social media platforms. They even held the audio event of 2.0 in Dubai which was attended by several prominent stars who graced the event.
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be seen playing an antagonist in the film while Amy Jackson features as the leading lady in the film.
If sources are to be believed, Rajini's 2.0 could break Baahubali US rights. Speculations doing the rounds suggest that if the makers catch hold of a good USA distributor to purchase the 2.0 US rights it could fetch a whopping Rs 70 Cr.
If everything goes well then it would be around $24 million, a first for an Indian film. Rajamouli's Baahubali has set a new record at the worldwide box office for all Indian films. Every record set by Baahubali would be hard to beat for forthcoming flicks of Tollywood, Bollywood, and Kollywood.
Baahubali US rights have been sold for $20.5 million and if Rajini's 2.0 fetches more than this, then it would become highest Grossing Indian film. Rajini and Akshay both are lead actors in the film so naturally, there distributors have no reason to step back. Also, both the stars enjoy a huge fan following in India.
There is no official word about the release date of 2.0. So keep following Sakshi Post we will update it here once the makers finalize the dates. Let's wait and watch to see if Rajini's 2.0 can break Baahubali record?
